Brahmaputra Valley College was founded in 1986 by educationists and citizens of Mymensingh who wanted a college where students from the town and the surrounding upazilas could study close to home.
From intermediate college to honours
The college began with Higher Secondary classes in science and humanities in a single building on College Road. Business studies was added in 1991. Affiliation with the National University brought honours programmes in English and Economics in 1998, followed by Accounting in 2004 and Mathematics in 2011.
Milestones
- 1986 – the college opens with HSC science and humanities
- 1998 – honours in English and Economics under the National University
- 2004 – honours in Accounting
- 2011 – honours in Mathematics and the new science building
- 2018 – Begum Rokeya Hall for women students
- 2024 – refurbished physics, chemistry and botany laboratories
Today
Nearly twelve hundred students learn from seventy faculty members. Our graduates teach in schools and universities, work in banks and the civil service, and lead businesses across the region.
